DC Universe Fastest Selling SOE Product?

According to John Smedley, president of SOE, it is. The game was released on January 11th and last week it had the number 1 sales from Steam, #1 on Amazon digital downloads, and apparently they can't keep the game on the shelves at retail locations. Unsure if the retail is with the PC or the PS3 version, but good for them, none-the-less. SOE has been having a rough patch with MMO's so it's nice to see their sales get a boost. Though I'm amused that 20% of their PS3 user base left the game to watch American Idol on January 27th. People still watch that show, huh?

Now this is still within the first "free" month of game play. We'll see how many end up sticking around when they have to start shelling out some money to continue playing.

DC Universe Online takes the concept of Champions Online and City of Heroes, but you get to interact with notorious super heroes and villains. You can choose to be good or bad and have a mentor (Batman, Superman, Lex Luthor, etc) to guide you along your path. I'd pick the Joker just to hear Mark Hamill's voice. Or maybe Robin since it's Wil Wheaton. Not Superman. Adam Baldwin is not in the realm of Superman.

Anyway, we'll see what happens after a month has passed. If I can procure a copy, I'll have to try it out and post up a review.
